Moving Towards Collaborative Policy Proposals
Monday 23 July 2012, 2:45pm - 5:15pm

First, we will hear updates on the developing and active campaigns underway regarding DNA forensics, gene patents, biobanks, personalized medicine, and genetic privacy/anti-discrimination.  Then, we will have a moderated discussion to consider how these campaigns might connect and build upon each other. In other words, how might we connect the dots across these issues to consider what comprehensive communications and public outreach efforts or policy proposals would look like? What recommendations might we provide to the FDA, FTC, and FBI to help guide their use of genetic information? And how might our efforts get at the root of all of these issues: the insufficient barriers to what can be done with the rise of genetic data and information?
