Payment for gametes, differential pricing based on gamete characteristics, and anonymity of gamete providers are all sources of concern when assisted reproductive technologies are discussed. Typically, the conversation mingles all three, despite the importance of singling out each for ethical and policy analysis. Also, the conversation rarely includes sperm, but focuses much more on payment for  eggs or for gestational services. I will argue that the discussions should include sperm and sperm providers as well.
