Dozier-Libbey Medical High School is a pathway school for Antioch Unified School District that opened in August 2008, and will eventually serve 600 students in grades 9 through 12. We began with a freshmen class and will add another grade level each subsequent year. Our four-year program uniquely prepares students for all areas of health related careers and has a strong emphasis on math and science. Students are required to take a minimum of four math and four science courses as well as a minimum of two years of foreign language.
All students who successfully complete the program meet or exceed the University of California A-G requirements. The health science theme is integrated throughout all curricular areas with heavy emphasis on integrated project based units for every grade level. In addition to the A-G requirements, the students take a medical terminology course their freshmen year which is articulated with Los Medanos Community College. Students who pass the course with a B or better receive three college credits. Students also take a health science course each year with subject matter that is specific to the health related industries such as medical career exploration, gloabal medicine, ethical and legal practices, and employability skills.
