Marsha Saxton, Ph.D. teaches Disability Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. She is Director of Research and Training at the World Institute on Disability, in Oakland, CA. She has published extensively about disability rights, women's health, health care disparities, abuse and violence prevention and genetic screening issues. Her writings include, With Wings: An Anthology by and about Women with Disabilities, and Sticks and Stones: Disabled People’s Stories of Abuse, Defiance and Resilience. Saxton has been interviewed on Talk of the Nation and 60 Minutes. She has been a board member of the Our Bodies, Ourselves Collective, the Council for Responsible Genetics, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Ethical, Legal Social Implications (ELSI) Working Group of the Human Genome Initiative.
