What is good biopolitical journalism? This presentation will use case studies from the mainstream media to discuss the flaws in the reporting of important genetics-related issues.  It will analyse stories, identifying those that have successfully explained the complexities and those who have misrepresented or even missed the point of a story entirely.  These case studies will allow analysis and provide areas that need to be focussed on in order to change reporting for the better. Furthermore, it will make best practise recommendations and outline key criteria, which should be aimed for in all responsible science journalism.
