The assisted reproduction industry continues to grow in the US and is increasingly reaching across national borders with practices that raise important social justice concerns. These include the rights, well-being, and dignity of third parties involved in reproduction through providing eggs or surrogacy; the commercialization of reproduction; the ability of same-sex couples or single people to reproduce; and questions about the safety of all parties and regulatory approaches. Panelists explored these social justice issues, specifically around new developments in policy and marketing approaches to surrogacy. Presenters and participants also reviewed ongoing advocacy, policy and scholarly efforts to discuss strategies for addressing concerns about these issues.
